Simon's Birthday Party

Uncle Andy with Anson

Both boys are fascinated with Simon's gifts...Sodor Fire Station to go with Thomas & friends! (Anson calls them all "choo-choo.")

Fun & practical gift - dress up/superhero goggles till summer, then for swimming!

The fire engine cake again...

Big boy bike. Riding through the living room was indeed a one time exception.

He pretty much lived in the basement for the rest of the day.

This was a great Simon birthday party year - there were several gifts but not an excessive pile, and they were all really GOOD gifts. Grandparents, aunts & uncles, etc. all did a great job. It was fun to have so much of the local family here (all the biologically related locals!) but we missed the WA & NM families by blood and by choice. Simon actually thought they were all coming too, which was sweet but a little sad. I appreciate knowing that out of sight is NOT out of mind for this little man though. The sense of extended family is strong in him! The cake was yummy as well as fun and everyone had a good time - not too much or too little party for any of us. Love that when we find the right balance! Eventually we'll do parties with friends too...maybe next year? He was terrified when we attempted to go to Chuck E. Cheese for a friend's party, so we'll have to keep it tame anyway. A little goes a long way with my boys - they get overstimulated easily. I appreciate this, because they are excited by the little things. :)

For a few days after his birthday he decided he still wanted to be three, but in the weeks since he has decided he's 10, or sometimes 14 (10 AND 4), or sometimes 16 because he thinks he can drive. Oh boy. Slow him down!
