Birthday Snow Day

Simon's birthday party was actually on November 30th because I had choir rehearsal the night of December 1st. The morning after his party, the morning of his actual birthday, we awoke to a winter wonderland. It had snowed most of the 30th and through the night. Not only was there plentiful accumulation, but it was excellent packing snow and not bitterly cold that day. I called up my mom and asked if she'd like to come play in the snow with us. Turns out she did!
Simon and the snow person. He was probably yelling in this picture. He likes to do that when we're outside, because I don't tell him to use his "indoor voice." Get it out while you're out, I guess!

Click here and here for the rest of the photos from the day. Baby/snowman antics, Simon shoveling, and more. (Oops...I didn't get them all into one album. Sorry about that.)

One of the favorite silly moments of the day for me? When Mom left we were still in the yard. She rolled down her window and said in a mischievous and leading tone, "Simon - don't you throw a snowball at me!" Simon looked up at me with a smile and a silent request for permission. I nodded and scooped up a handful of snow too. He lobbed his snowball a few feet...didn't quite get to Grandma Lizzy's blue truck-car. I threw mine - right into her open window and into the neck/back of her coat. Whoo! Simon thought it was so funny - especially when Grandma Lizzy groaned and laughed. Think she learned her lesson? :)

I love this post. I can hear Simon yelling outside, I can see mom's reaction to the snowball...it's all coming so fast!

Love it.

Love you!
